First and Second Fix Carpentry

SSBC specialises in first and second fix carpentry on domestic, commercial and industrial new build properties.

The first fix carpentry in anew build property involves a number of development areas that includes –

All the first fix carpentry starts once the foundation are completed and after any block / brickwork (depending on if the build is a timber frame). This first fix happens before plumbing and electrical trades as they will run their services through the build before the second fix is started.

The second fix carpentry normally starts once all of the building and plastering work is completed. This is all the main visual parts and is important that this is done to the highest standards. Second fix carpentry includes –

  • Kitchens
  • Bathrooms
  • Internal hardwood and softwood doors
  • Architraves to door linings and other openings
  • Skirting boards
  • Mouldings
  • Door sets
  • Staircase finishing touches
